Stockdales Offers International Work Placement
We were delighted when we were approached to offer an international work placement to Melissa Dorrestein from Holland. Melissa, 17, knew of Stockdales due to a family connection. So when she was tasked with finding an work placement overseas, she thought of us.
Melissa is hoping to study medicine in the future so volunteering at Stockdales for over 2 weeks was just the ticket. She has spent time with the team in our Community Services department, helping out in the sessions and getting to know the people we support.
Melissa said, “I have got so much out of my time at Stockdales. I didn’t have experience of working with people with learning disabilities – so it’s been great for that. I feel like I’m better at communicating and I’ve been able to brush up on my English as well. I have been amazed by the staff at Stockdales. They are so good at what they do.”
It’s been a pleasure to have Melissa with us. Big thanks to her and we wish her well for the future.
