Chris’s Stroll for Stockdales

Chris donating lovely eggs for our service users to enjoy at Easter

Supporter Chris Eaton has set himself the challenge of walking 400K (250 miles) locally over 30 days in June to raise money for Stockdales. That’s the equivalent of walking from Manchester to Exeter. He’s worked out it will be 500,000 steps. It’s a pretty long ‘stroll’, but he’s up for the challenge!

Chris came up with the idea because during the lockdown period he’s had more time on his hands and has done loads of walking. He has also been a supporter of Stockdales for many years; personally, through his business, Chartis PC and as Chair of Wythenshawe Football Club, who adopted Stockdales as their charity in 2019. He is passionate about raising much needed funds us, so huge thanks to him and we wish him the best of luck.

The Coronavirus has had a massive impact on charities all over the country. Stockdales is no exception to this. We normally put on several events a year to help them raise much needed funds for special projects like our kid’s club and Dream Days. Then there’s specialist equipment, transport and capital projects like the conversion and refurbishment of our new residential home that we have to raise money for too.

It looks like most, if not all, of our events will be cancelled this year because of Covid-19. Chris wants to do his bit to make sure we have enough funds to keep on doing what they do best as Stockdales is such a valuable resource for so many people and their families.

Chris is willing to do the walking! But can you help him with his fundraising? Any help you can give will be most appreciated by him and everyone at Stockdales. You can sponsor Chris here.

If Chris has inspired you to do something to raise money for Stockdales, you can chat about your idea with Natalie on 07980 967 293 or email her here.
