Marathon in a Month

Being active and getting out and about is standard at Stockdales and something we do every day. So, we came up with an activity for each of our services to do…… a sponsored ‘Marathon in Month’ and a total of a staggering 157.2 miles. The challenge was on! The miles could be clocked up any way – going out for a walk long or short, going to the shops, trips out for the day and in our Community Services sessions. Anything with steps included counted!

We received regular updates from our 6 services about their progress and they sent us photos and videos of their miles. It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved and as the weeks went by. And it brought out a whole heap of competitiveness too! Not satisfied with doing one marathon, some went on to do multiple marathons and completely smashed their targets clocking up an enormous 449.6 miles between them. And it wasn’t just the miles they smashed either, the group managed to raise £1,387.50, which is superb! A huge thanks to them and their sponsors for such an amazing result.

We were delighted to present the teams with their medals and trophies at our Summer Ball. A special well done to the gang at Ashton Lane for winning the ‘Most Miles’ trophy and for doing 102.2 miles. This is exceptional! A massive well done to everyone involved.
