Making a huge difference to Neel and his family

Neel has been coming to our kids club, Stockies since he was 5 years old and he is now nearly 13!

Stockies is a much-needed club for local children who would find it difficult to access and enjoy mainstream activities because they need intensive, specialist support. It’s a safe space for children to relax and be themselves. He enjoyed it so much, and it was such a help to his family, that he now has domiciliary care support in the mornings and after school during the week.

Plus four hours support at our life skills venue on Navigation Road on Saturday mornings. He also enjoys getting out and about exploring his local community with a member of our team.

We asked his mother Ritu what the help from Stockdales means to her: “Neel loved Stockies right from the start. There’s just something about the joy and the play – and all the support that really makes a difference to his week. He now has domiciliary care and one-to one support. He just loves his time there too and pulls away from me as soon as we arrive. Stockdales is everything to us as a family. It is that little bit of independence Neel loves; it’s the support, the environment, it is the combination of everything. As a family we wouldn’t have been able to cope without Stockdales. Everything just works so well.”

You can see Ritu talking about the impact Stockdales has had on their family, in the ITV story here
