Transported into a Dream!

When we received a letter from Terry telling us how much he loved trains and transport, we knew that we had to make his dream come true!

As with all “Dreamers”, we met Terry and his carer Carol early on in the planning. We talked all about his dreams and wishes and we were blown away with his knowledge on trains and his wonderful drawings. We were also extremely moved by Carols story of how she came to look after Terry and how she’s lovingly cared for him as part of her family ever since. We just had to make this trip extra special, not just for Terry, but for Carol too!

With the help and care from our Support Worker John, Terry and Carol enjoyed a magical weekend away in York and of course the theme was “Transport”. They were collected from home in a Limousine, travelled First Class on the train to York, stayed in a luxurious hotel and enjoyed a river cruise and a day out to The National Railway Museum. Terry also told us he loves swimming, so John took him for a swim in the hotel pool, which gave Carol some rare time to herself. So, we booked her in for a relaxing beauty treatment, something she has never had before and truly does deserve!

Carol wrote a very moving letter to us after the Dream Day, she said; “We had an amazing weekend and I want to thank you all for this. But a special thanks must go to John, who treated us like royalty from start to finish and looked after our every need. He made us feel relaxed and important, as if we’d known him forever. We laughed and joked all weekend! What an amazing experience for both of us, we will never forget this”.
