Helping People in the Local Community…

Mary’s been using our Community Services for over 4 years now. She doesn’t use verbal communication, but instead uses signing to be able to communicate with the people around her. Mary enjoys an active life and is a regular at some of our weekday sessions. She is a big fan of art and has recently been involved in making some collages to put on the wall of our new kitchen and activity room.

Mary also loves music – so much that she comes to 2 music sessions during the week. She can often be found dancing away to the lively beats or playing one of the many instruments we have here. In the summer, sometimes the session moves outside which Mary really enjoys – playing music in the sunshine!

Friday afternoons are all about our sensory session, another of Mary’s favourites. Bubble tubes, coloured lights and a relaxing atmosphere are the perfect way for her to wind down from a busy and active week.

It is a joy to support Mary and she gets a lot out of coming to our sessions as it helps her to build her confidence and she meets up with her friends.

Mary said, “I love coming to Stockdales and all of the activities I do. I really like the way they treat me like a grown-up.”
